Does It Make Any Difference What Type Of Agent I Select?

The answer is definitely yes! In general, there are two types of insurance agents—Independent Agents who write and offer more than one company and direct or captive agents who represent just one company.

The advantage of selecting an Independent Agent is Independent Agents have the ability to offer more options from a variety of companies. In many cases, competition can sometimes lead to lower premiums. Here are some suggestions when looking for an insurance agent:

Square Button  Contact a least three agents. Seek out an agent that listens. A good agent will ask questions about your insurance needs.

Square Button  Deal only with an agent who wants to sell a policy you need and can afford rather than the policy he or she wants to sell you.

Square Button  Consider the agent’s office and professional staff. Ask for customer references.

Square Button  In addition to price and personality, evaluate how quickly an agent responds to your needs.

Square Button  Ask for the A.M. Best rating of the company offering the policy you are considering (An A or A++ rating from Best signifies a good reputation and a solid financial foundation.
